CONFINED SPACES

Objectives:

At the end of this course, candidates will be able to define what a confined space is and recognise the dangers associated with it. Candidates will be aware of their own responsibilities when they enter a confined space. Candidates will also understand the workings of a Gas Monitor, and the importance of the door person’s duties.

Candidate Profile:

Anyone who has to enter a confined space for inspection purposes or to carry out specific work in a LOW RISK CATEGORY confined space.

Award: Candidates will be given a certificate by TC Ireland

Course Content:

Confined Space Code of Practice and Legislation 2010
Identify hazards associated with Confined Spaces
Understanding lock-out procedures, permits, sign in-out sheets and the door person’s duties
Using Gas Monitors and detection equipment
Correct PPE
Rescue plans
Theory Assessment and course summary
The capabilities of safety equipment and its correct use, including tri-pod, winch, safety-harness, breathing apparatus.
How to follow the requirements of the Confined Space Entry Permit.
Correct procedures for dealing with Confined Space Emergencies.
Good hygiene practises when working in sewers, drains, etc.
